"Greek Foreign Minister Dora Bakoyannis, previously known for her efforts towards building peaceful ties with Turkey, surprised some observers on Sunday by stating that her country will do whatever is necessary to gain international recognition of Greek Pontic genocide claims.
In a message sent to a meeting of the Pontic Greek Associations' Federation in Athens, Bakoyannis said, "The Greek government is working for the recognition of the 'genocide' by the international community."
